Intro.

I constantly feel like I know less about music than everyone else.

I was that girl who listened to nothing but Dave Matthews Band albums until I went to college. When I arrived at Syracuse University in 2004, friends introduced me to Warped-Tour fodder like Something Corporate, Fall Out Boy, and Matchbook Romance…bands that they had followed throughout high school and that I had never heard. When I began working at the student-run music magazine (20 Watts), I could barely follow staff meetings.

Two years at that magazine forced me to learn a bit about music, something I always meant to do but never put first. Then I graduated in May. This blog, I hope, will give me a reason to keep building on what I learned, outside of class, from running a music magazine, from the other (far more knowledgeable) staffers, and from the coffeehouse shows and basement dance parties I frequented.

I hope this helps other like-minded folks, too. I’ve yet to find another blog that reaches out to music lovers who never feel up to date. I plan to share all my best music-finding tips, as well as info on music, current and not-so-current, that merits a listen.

Maybe soon, you (and I) can recommend some bands that only a couple friends have already been listening to for months.
